The loss of Summer.

Summer happens too quickly. It starts and you get busy with working late and too much that by the time you are ready to hang out with your kids its over.  I tried to fish this year as much as I could with my kids, but even with planning weather and heat get in the way. This Summer got away from me too quickly and I'm sorry that happned.

If I could tell you one thing is to be ready to do somthing with your kids no matter how small it is they remember. Sit and play with hotwheels, put on a movie and just watch no matter how bad it is, have a pizza and just watch, go to the cheep show even if its late in the evening.  Point stars out in the night sky. Teach yous kids where to fill the washer fluid in a car. Look at spiders building webs..... No lesson is too small for your kids to remember. I love you boys.....

Fishing 2010 part 2

I guess I learned a hard lesson yesterday... That both of my boys love animals. Nothing wrong with that and I suppose it comes from their mom. We caught a huge bluegill and I wanted to take it home and eat it. You two had a fit and refused to let me do so. I suppose if there is a lesson to be learned is to let you know what we are doing before we get there. Matt and I came to an agree ment and decided if you catch somthing on YOUR pole you decide what to do with it.  -- Its great thinking from a six year old.....

Fishing 2010

OK we have been doing quite alot of fishing this year. Last year I slowly bought a pole here and a lure here or there. This year it has been all worm fishing. I have to say we have been doing great. I wanto to tell you to get back to the simple stuff in what you are doing. With a simple hook and worm bait we have been having more and more fun. Blue gill and bull heads. Keep it fun and just do it to spend time together. The quest is more important than the prize sometimes.....
This is a simple list of what to bring with.....
  • Water in a jug - to drink
  • water in a jug to wash
  • hooks and extra line
  • fingernail clippers - easy to clip lines and knots
  • frozen juice boxes
  • snax
  • worms - mixed night crawlers or trout worms even wax worms
  • bobbers
  • hats and bug spray
  • beef jerky
any thing else is just icing on the cake .... just remember to keep it comfortable....

On Dogs

When you decide to take a real dog home you make a choice to take on huge responsibility.
You agree with your pet that you will feed him, water him, take him out for walks, clean up after and take to the vet.
This is the minimum in most cases you will agree to love your pet, talk to, scratch behind the ears, give a cheese treat to, to sneak a bit of ham off your plate, to check for fleas and ticks, to hold his feet when he's out in the below zero temps, to take out at 5 am when necessary, to  allow on you bed, to give a small bit of the bed near your feet to sleep on, to give a blanket to nest on, to remember on Christmas time, to give the Ham bone on Easter, to not yell too much when he steals a hamburger, to run after when the kids leave the gate open, to roll down the window when you come along on rides, to play with, to chase around in the back yard, to give a chew bone to for no reason, to say hello to first when you come home, to put to sleep and give a dignified end when you become sick and too old to be comfortable any more, to cry when its done, to remember him.
They agree to love you unconditionally- that's the deal.

Pizza Puff

I think that some of the best things to your child is to introduce them to new things. I love to see that spark in their eyes as they enjoy the same think you do. Yesterday I took my son to a little Greek style Gyro stand. He did 't want to go. he wanted a hot dog from home or pizza. I introduced him to a pizza puff. I described it to him as a pizza bite thats HUGE! We ordered it and waited a but to wonderfully deep fry. It came out and he looked at in distain. I cut it open and the smell of sausage and cheese just hit him. I could tell that in the first bite that he was hooked.  I never really liked them and can honestly say that I have maybe had less than 10 in my like, but to see him just enjoy it was great.

games time

sometimes you have to cheat to win some times you cheat to lose. I love playing video games and card games with my kids. Teaching them the rules and insides of certain games. We often play UNO and war on the living room rug. the kids have retaught me how to share and take turns. I have been cheating on some games with them. I often lose on purpose to see in order no to discourage  them. No , I do not out  right lose , but I will slow down a game for a round or two or forget to play a winning card.  The kids eventually play better and better to the point where they do not need any help. - In domino's we just have fun playing double six rounds. Uno can go on for hours and now mario takes a life on its own.....I have played more games with my own kids than I think I played when I was a kid....Please play a game with your own kids. It keep you young and they never forget it....
